Mangaluru, Feb 22: Various advanced facilities were inaugurated at the newly-established Kanachur Hospital and Research Centre at Deralakatte here on Sunday February 22. A free medical checkup camp was also organized.
District incharge minister Ramanath Rai inaugurated the new OPD block.
U T Khadar, minister for health and family welfare inaugurated the free medical check up camp and Kanachur Arogya card, while Rajendra Kumar, chairman, SCDCC Bank inaugurated the library, Jayaram Bhat, MD, Karnataka Bank inaugurated the blood bank and Dr Mohammed Ismail, general physician, inaugurated the ICU block.
Kanachur Monu, chairman, Kanachur Hospital and Research Centre welcomed the gathering. He thanked all the dignitaries for their support. Kanachur Arogya Card was symbolically given to three people.
Ramanath Rai lauded Kanachur Monu for his efforts and said, "Kanachur Monu is very close to me and I know him even before I entered politics. He has started educational institutions with the motto to impart quality education to students. His achievements from timber business to setting up educational institution are appreciable.
"There can never be too many medical institutions as there is a lot of demand for doctors. So Kanachur Monu has taken the right step in starting a medical college. I am happy to be part of this inauguration," he added.
"People have elected me 6 times thinking that Ramanath Rai is our man and I am indebted to them. They have supported me irrespective of caste and religion. I have never differentiated between people. I am a man with secular credentials and I like to be with secular people. I wish all the best to Kanachur Monu and his family," he said.
U T Khadar said, "I am happy that in a short time a good and well-equipped hospital has been built. Since Kanachur Monu has built this hospital it will help many poor people to get medical benefits, many people have already got employment. In a week, the government will introduce accident care insurance. If someone meets with accident then the expenses for the first 48 hours will be bourne by the government up to Rs 25,000. Karnataka is the first place to introduce this kind of scheme in the whole of Asia."
Nagraj Shetty, former minister said, "There is no substitute for hard work. Annadana (providing food), vidyadana (imparting education), arogyadana (providing healthcare) are the greatest deeds. Kanachur Monu by starting this institution is doing arogyadana. I wish all the best to Kanachur Monu in his future endeavors."
Mohiuddin Bava, MLA Mangaluru North, Shakuntala Shetty, Puttur MLA, Sathish Kumpala, ZP vice-president, Shekar Kaneerthota, president, Kotekar gram panchayat and Dr Arunachalam Kumar, HoD of anatamy, KIMS, Mangaluru were present at the event.
