Montevideo, Feb 20 (IANS): Defending champions San Lorenzo scored twice in the last five minutes to clinch a dramatic 2-1 victory over Uruguay's Danubio in their opening Copa Libertadores group match here.
Matias Castro's 11th minute strike looked set to hand the hosts a memorable victory at the Estadio Centenario Thursday, reports Xinhua.
But Mauro Matos' low finish drew the Argentine outfit level before Mauro Cetto thumped in an angled header with two minutes left.
"It wasn't the type of win we were hoping for but we got three points as the visitors and that is a good result," Matos said.
"The pitch didn't help us but we gave everything, ran, and did all we could to win. We managed to get what we came for."
In other matches Thursday, Colombia's Atletico Nacional drew 2-2 against Paraguay's Libertad and Bolivia's San Jose won 2-0 at home over Argentina's River Plate.
The tournament is organised by South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL).
