Puttur, Feb 1: Ousted block Congress president, A Hemanath Shetty, has accused MLA, Shakuntala Shetty, and former union minister, Janardhana Poojary, of having a hand in his ouster from the post of the block Congress president.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday January 31, Shetty termed Poojary as a coin that has become stale in electoral politics. He therefore, contended that Poojary does not have any moral right to say anything adverse about him. He accused Poojary as a man responsible for splitting Congress party on the lines of caste since the last three decades, and working to defeat Veereappa Moily. He called Poojary a joker.
Hemanath termed the party's decision to replace him as block Congress president, after being in that position for eight long years, as unfortunate. He charged MLA, Shakuntala Shetty, of providing wrong feedback to the party leadership and planning his replacement with Fazal Raheem. 'Shakuntala Shetty nurses RSS line of thinking. She is making efforts to destroy Congress party in Puttur. It will serve the party well if she is driven out of the party,' he felt.
In the meanwhile, presidents of different block Congress units have tendered their resignations as a mark of protest against the removal of Hemanath Shetty. All of them have submitted their resignations to the district Congress president, it is learnt.
