Melbourne, Jan 20 (IANS): Spanish tennis ace Rafael Nadal’s new racquet now has a power button which will help him in timing his shots to a perfection!
Termed as a "smart racquet", one of the latest advancement’s in tennis technology, it tells a player where to hit the ball with the help of an app, reports news.com.au.
There are sensors implanted in the racquet, made by tennis equipment company Babolat, which records every detail on every ball hit. At the end of the game or training, the data can be downloaded to help analyse a player’s weaknesses and strengths.
“This (racquet) is a way you can check these kinds of things (how he has fared in a game),” said the 14-time Grand Slam winner, who was sidelined for much of last season with injuries.
Danish player Caroline Wozniacki and Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Songa also have the power button on their racquets.
The player needs to press the ‘on’ button and then start playing. When the game ends he has to press the second button, activating Bluetooth which syncs the statistics with a smart phone or a computer.
