Chinese Zheng Jie crashes out of Australian Open


Melbourne, Jan 20 (IANS): Chinese Zheng Jie crashed out of the Australian Open tennis tournament after opening round straight sets loss to Chinese Taipei's Chang Kai-Chen in the women's singles here Tuesday.

Chang was never in trouble as she powered to a 6-1, 6-2 victory over the 31-year-old in 34 minutes, reports Xinhua.

Zheng Jie was the first wild card to have made it to any Grand Slam semifinals when she reached the Wimbledon last four in 2008.

She also reached the semifinals of the 2010 Australian Open where compatriot Li Na finished runner-up.
