Mangaluru, Jan 14: Sandhya Creations, which set a record of sorts with 'Nirel', the first international Tulu movie shot in the UAE, on Wednesday January 14 announced the launch of its yet-to-be-named second movie in the same language.
Simply called "Tulu Movie Production No 2", the muhurat of the movie was held at Sharavu Maha Ganapati Temple here on the auspicious occasion of Makara Sankranti.
The priest of Sharavu temple conducted the puja and blessed the whole team of Production No 2, with prayers for grand success of the movie.
The movie is being produced by Dubai-based Shodhan Prasad, who was also the producer of 'Nirel'.
Addressing the gathering, Shodhan Prasad said, "I thank everyone for turning up for the muhurat function in large numbers. The support to Tulu industry is increasing over the years which is a good sign. We all need to work together hand-in-hand for the growth of Tulu film industry. Last time we shot our film in a different country, this time the entire film will be shot in Mangaluru. I hope the film sees grand success."
Speaking to the media, director Ranjith Bajpe said, "The story is based on real incidents. The story, written by me, has very good message to the society regarding drug-related issues. The movie also has comedy and action, also has very good suspense. One of the highlights of the movie is that it has a song completly dedicated to marriage celebrations of Mangaluru. It is a complete Tulu movie, though some songs might be shot in Madikeri. I hope the movie becomes a grand success. The shooting will be completed in a month."
The lead actor of the movie is Arjun Kapikad, and the lead actress is Shilpa Suvarna. Nidhi Maroli and Anvita Hemachandra are the supporting actresses. Supporting actor Sandeep Shetty Manibettu will be seen in a comic role.
Executive producer of the film is Sudhakar Kudroli and cameraman is Karthik B Mallur.
Manohar Prasad, chief of Udayavani Mangaluru bureau, Shiva Sharan Shetty, chairman of Namma TV, Vijaykumar Kodialbail and Devadas Kapikad, Prakash Pandeshwar, Rajesh Bhat, Dr Richard Castelino and other noted personalities were present as chief guests.
