Los Angeles, Jan 12 (IANS): Richard Linklater was named the Best Director - Motion Picture for his movie "Boyhood", which was shot intermittently over 12 years to encapsulate the life of a boy from the tender age of five to 18.
Linklater's work on the coming-of-age drama saw stiff competition from Wes Anderson ("The Grand Budapest Hotel"), Ava Duvernay ("Selma"), David Fincher ("Gone Girl") and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu ("Birdman").
"Boyhood" stars Patricia Arquette, Ellar Coltrane, Lorelei Linklater, and Ethan Hawke.
