Mumbai, Jan 10: Actress Priyanka Chopra who is in Maldives as a special guest of the Government for the International Music Festival, had a minor boat accident wherein the boat she was on collided with the coral reef. The actress was brought back to safety by the local coast guard.
The actress had tweeted, "Super excited to be heading to #Maldives today on invitation of the Minister of Tourism @Ahmed_Adeeb. Going to be super fun. See you there" before she left for the island country. And around midnight she had written, "Nocturnal diving!! #TeamPC #MaldivesAdventure,"
After the evenings functions, the 32 year old actress went for a midnight dive with her brother and it is reported that they were heading back to the city of when their boat drove straight into the surrounding coral reef. They had to send out an immediate SOS to the coast guard to avoid further mishap. Although the coast guard got into action immediately, the passengers on the boat had a bit of a wait till the rescuers reached them in the dark.
Active as she always is on social networking sites, the actress seized the opportunity to post a picture of herself on Instagram and tweeted, “Our boat just hit a huge coral reef! Sitting and waiting for the Coast guard!! #MaldivesAdventure yikes!! #Chaos!”.
Maldives has been a special place for the actress for as she said, it was a place where one of the first big event after she won Miss World Crown had taken place and she has many treasured memories of it. She also congratulated the people of the nation on the 50th year of Independence.
