Udupi, Jan 8: The 14th District-level Makkala Sahithya Sammelana will be held at Smt. Rukmini Shedthi Memorial National First Degree College, Barkur, Udupi jointly organized by Svami Vivekananda Samskrithika Kendra, Barkur, www.barkuronline.com , Ramkrishna Ashram Belgaum and Shanthivana Trust, Dharmasthala on January 10 and 11, 2015. The committee has expecting 500-600 children from all over the district.
The programme will take off with a grand procession followed by many cultural performances.
Praveen S, 8th Standard student from government high school, Heskattur, Kundapura Taluk. will be the president of the sammelan.
Praveen is the son of Shekhar and Parvathi. He has received awards and appreciation for his dedication. His hobbies are painting, craft, clay modeling etc. He is running a school magazine called “balara prapancha”. He had participated in ‘Inchara’, a literature workshop and was selected to ‘Inspire’ award.
On January 10, the first workshop would be held in Barkur. There will be four sessions. Nithyananda Padre, senior sub-editor Udayavani will give lecture on ‘Sahitya: Odu mattu baravanige’. In the second session, by Bagur Markandeya will giving information on ‘makkala manovikadalli lalitakalegalu’, third will be on ‘sahitya mattu samskara’ by Nikethanraj, Yuva Bharat Bangalore and fourth will be on ‘Kale mattu makkala vyaktitva Vikasana’ by Jayashree Arvind.
On January 11th the second workshop would be held by P. V. Bhandary, psychologist, AV Baliga memorial hospital, topic on ‘Hadhareyada makkala manassu’ and second will be on ‘Sahityada Vyaktitva Nirmana’ by Sri Jogi.
Praveen S. the president of this Sammelan, says "There is less opportunity for us to participate and to express in the Kannada Sahitya Parishad or any other organization. It is only limited to adults. Hence, through this children can develop their interest on literature. We can contribute something for future generation.
