Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Jan 5: The decomposed mortal remains of a youth who had rented a room in a lodge near Uppinangady bypass on national highway 75 was found from the bathroom of the lodge on Sunday January 4.

The person in question, who had hired the room on December 30, had given his name and address as Yuvaraj R, son of Ramakrishna Hansur House, Sagar, Shivamogga district. He had told the lodge people that he was a JCB operator by profession.

The persons working at the lodge said that the person  was sighted outside the room on December 31. He was not seen thereafter. As the  door of the room continued to  be bolted from inside even on Sunday January 4, the lodge people knocked at the door, but noticed that foul smell was emanating from inside the room.

They immediately contacted Uppinangady police, and then broke open the door of the room. The lifeless body of the  person was seen lying face down in decomposed state inside the bathroom.  Empty beer and  whiskey bottles were found strewn inside the room.

It is suspected that the person would have consumed liquor in excess on December 31 to celebrate the  arrival of new year, and that after entering the bathroom, he would have slipped and fallen to the ground, banging his head against some  object, dying instantly.

No containers of poisonous substances were found  inside the room. Uppinangady police have registered a case and begun investigation.
