Bengaluru: Angry husband kills wife, torches body to hide identity

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jan 4: The police have finally solved the mystery behind the recovery of an unidentified body of a female lying in agricultural fields in Sonnappanahalli near Bagalur sometime back. The body has been found to be belonging to Ramya (22), wife of Arun (25) from Kalyana Nagara here.

The policemen say that Arun had murdered his wife because of a sense of revenge born out of the fact that Ramya had filed a dowry harassment complaint against him.His enmity against her had grown further after she started living with her parents since sometime back. Both Arun and his friend, Srinivas (27), who had helped in executing the murder plan, stand arrested by Ramamurthy Nagar police station personnel.

The two had married two years ago. Arun used to work for a private company, while Ramya was working for a matrimonial website. Arun stopped working within two months of marriage, and started pestering Ramya to bring more dowry. Feeling harassed, Ramya had filed dowry harassment complaint in Ramamurthy Nagar police station, the police said.

Arun hatched a plan in connivance with his friend, Srinivas, to eliminate his wife. On December 29, he somehow convinced Ramya to accompany him for his birthday party. They travelled in a car driven by Srinivas to Cafe Coffee Day in Ramamurthy Nagar, before driving away to Kadusonnappanahalli under the guise of joyride before returning home. In deserted fields, Arun stabbed Ramya to death, removed her clothes, and burnt her chest and face to hide her identity. The farmers alerted the police about finding a body abandoned in the fields on December 30.

The policemen of Ramamurthy Nagar, after learning about the recovery of an unidentified body at Sonnappanahalli, took Ramya's parents, who had filed missing complaint about their daughter, there. The police had suspected the role of Arun in Ramya's disappearance, as her parents had expressed suspicion about his role. The parents identified the body on the basis of tattoo found on her body. They then launched a hunt for Arun, and arrested him and his friend.

The police say Arun and Srinivas have confessed to their crimes.
