Sharjah, Dec 10: SNTTA, a leading Travel agency in Sharjah UAE, undertook a beach cleaning drive early Friday morning. This was in response to the UAE government’s launch of a massive awareness campaign to keep the country clean. Parks, beaches and public areas have been set as targets.
SNTTA, however, is the first privately owned company to take up the beach cleaning campaign in Sharjah. The General Manager of SNTTA Zafar Imam, along with over 120 employees clad in white T shirts and caps assembled at the beach along the Sharjah Ajman road Friday morning. The three kilometer stretch was covered by different teams with the able assistance of the Sharjah Municipality.
It is a fact that the beach is the most common place where most of the litter is left behind by picnic parties and individuals who use the beach. This beach cleaning campaign was to create awareness among the general public not to litter public places. It is also advised that we educate our children into keeping public places clean.
The UAE has in fact an existing law that can penalize upto AED 500 on anyone who litters or vandalizes public places or property. But the authorities have always turned a blind eye on this rule. The UAE government has urged private and public sector companies, schools, colleges and Social organizations to spread this awareness campaign.
Any Organization who wishes to conduct such campaigns is welcome to do so. The Sharjah Municipality will graciously assist with men and equipment for any cleaning drive.
