Prague, Dec 21 (IANS): Petra Kvitova and Tomas Berdych were named the best Czech female and male tennis player of the year 2014.
The 24-year-old Kvitova, a two-time Wimbledon winner, won the award for the second time mainly due to her pivotal role in the Czech team's victory in the Fed Cup, reports Xinhua.
The Czech Fed Cup team was elected the team of the year.
Berdych, 29, compiled a 55-22 win-loss record in 2014, finishing in the Top 10 of the ATP Rankings for the fifth straight year.
The Czech won two ATP World Tour titles in Rotterdam and Stockholm and went 1-2 in round robin play on his fifth successive appearance at the ATP World Tour Finals.
