Brisbane, Dec 16 (IANS): It will be history in the making at the Brisbane Cricket Ground (The Gabba) with the Marsh brothers - Shaun and Mitchell - becoming only the fifth set of siblings in Australian history to play in the same Test side when they face India in the second Test here, starting Wednesday.
Shaun Marsh was recalled Tuesday to the Australian side for the second Test following skipper Michael Clarke's, injury paving the way for the unique feat, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
The pair will become the first set of siblings to play in the same Test team since the Waugh brothers made the last of their 108 appearances together for Australia in 2002.
Before the Waughs (Steve and Mark) and the Chappells (Ian and Greg), the Gregorys (Ned and Dave) played in 1877 followed soon after by Charles and Alec Bannerman in 1879.
When Mitchell Marsh made his debut in the United Arab Emirates earlier this year, his father Geoff joined India's Lala Amarnath and New Zealand's Walter Hadlee as the only Test players to have fathered two sons to join them at the highest level.
