Tokyo, Dec 12 (IANS): A Japan national team volleyball player has been arrested for stealing cash from a wallet at a parlour, Tokyo police said Friday.
Kongoh Oh confessed to taking the money, according to the police, while his club team Toray Arrows pulled out of national championships for this incident Friday, reports Xinhua.
The incident comes after Japanese swimmer Naoya Tomita was arrested at the Incheon Asian Games in September after he admitted stealing a journalist's camera during training.
Tomita's disgraceful behaviour left Japanese Olympic Committee embarrassed and humiliated and he was subsequently banned from the sport for 18 months.
According to local media reports, Oh took 140,000 yen ($1,200) from the wallet when the owner left his seat at a parlour.
Oh then handed the wallet to the parlour staff but remained at the shop till the victim noticed the money was missing and called the police.
After checking security cameras, police questioned Oh, who admitted to taking the money.
