Kolkata, Dec 12 (IANS): The Brazilian imports have had the most effect on the Indian Super league (ISL), with the South Americans footballers scoring the most goals - 26 of the 121 - in the group stage of the competition.
Their tally amounts to 21.5 percent of the goals scored in the round robin phase, with three Brazilians figuring among the top five goals scorers so far.
Chennaiyin FC's Elano Blumer heads the list with eight strikes, followed by Delhi Dynamos FC's Gustavo dos Santos with five goals and FC Goa's Andre Santos and Chennaiyin FC's Bruno Pelissari (four).
The Indians, for whose development the tournament was conceptualised, are second with 23 goals. FC Goa's Romeo Fernandes and Chennaiyin FC's Jeje Lalpekhlua lead the way with three strikes. Atletico de Kolkata duo of Baljit Sahni and Cavin Lobo have two goals to their credit.
Mumbai City FC's Andre Moritz has scored the tournament's only hat-trick with five matches still remaining of the inaugural tournament.
