Bengaluru, Dec 8: At last, the two naxal leaders, who were supposed to surrender on December 2, will surrender on Monday, December 8 afternoon, in Chikkamagaluru, as per reports.

Noor Zulfikar, from Chitradurga district and Sirimane Nagaraj from Sringeri in Chikmagalur district are the two leaders who will join the mainstream today.

The surrender will take place after 2 pm in the presence of deputy commissioner of Chikkamagaluru district, Shekarappa, district police superintendent R Chetan and office bearers of Citizens Forum for Peace of Bengaluru.

The duo faces a number of cases in different police stations in Udupi and Chikmagalur districts. Originally the surrender was scheduled to take place in Bengaluru on December 2 which was later postponed due to confusion over the terms of the surrender and rehabilitation package.

Sirimane Nagaraj has one case each in Ajekar and Hebri police stations while Zulfikar faces four cases in different police stations of Chikmagalur and Udupi districts.

The duo is expected to get bail as per law and according to the promise made by the government.

The Citizens forum for peace had said earlier that the chief minister had assured them of withdrawing two cases standing against Sirimane Nagaraj during the next cabinet meeting, and to take up the issue relating to the withdrawal of cases filed under Arms Act against Zulfikar.

R Chetan has said that as soon as the naxal leaders surrender, they will be produced to the magistrate and according to the directives, they will take further actions.
