Karkala, Nov 28: “Each child is a pool of knowledge. Creating a conducive atmosphere for the blossoming of latent knowledge in them is education,” said Fr Lawrence B D’Souza, parish priest, Belman St Joseph's Church.
Fr D’Souza was speaking after lighting the traditional lamp and inaugurating ‘Spark—2014’, a talent show of Belman St Joseph English Medium School. Assistant parish priest Fr John Baptist Moras said that the part played by the teachers and educational institutions in realizing the dreams of students is prominent.
Zilla panchayat member Supreet Shetty, Belman Rotary president Suresh Rao, Belman Rotary founder president K Suryakanth Shetty, Lions Club president and district human rights organization president Inna Udayakumar Shetty, senior teacher B Pundalik Marate, Shirva, Church Welfare Committee vice--president Gregory Menezes, and secretary Lydia Aranha conveyed their best wishes.
Convent head Sr Usha Stella, primary school headmistress Sr Monica and high school headmistress Renilda Pereira were on the dais. Winners of competitions were awarded prizes and felicitated.
School head teacher Janet D’Souza read the report. Teacher Nisha Devadiga welcomed. Brother Arun D’Souza, Gayatri Bhat, Prescilla D’ Souza, Harshendra Kumar Jain, Sunanda Salian, and Merwin Mendonc co-operated in the cultural programme.
Students compered the programme. Teacher Suprita D’Paula proposed the vote of thanks. Students presented a cultural programme.
