Udupi, Nov 24: The annual Eucharistic procession of Udupi diocese was held with much devotion and religious fervour on Sunday, November 23 at Mother of Sorrows Church premises.
Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, the bishop of Udupi diocese in his sermon highlighted the qualities of Christ the King. He said that Jesus, being the son of God and King of world was not like other rulers who were after wealth and luxury. "Jesus taught love and peace. People should forgive one another," he said.
After the celebration, a grand Eucharistic procession was held by devotees along with cross where bands played the tunes. Bishop carried the Blessed Sacrament on a decorated vehicle. The streets were glossing with lamps and candles.
The procession which started from Government PU college road went through Ajjarkad Park Road- Jodukatte Circle - Old Taluk Office Road - Court Road - Diana Circle route and ended at the Church ground. Thousands of devotees took part in the glittery and colorful march.
Fr Vincent Crasta, Director of Pontifical Commission announced the names of parishes which made the highest collections on Mission Sunday. The Bishop honoured them.
Fr Fred Mascarenhas, parish priest of Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi thanked the Bishop and all the devotees present for the celebration.
Fr Denis D’Sa, public relations officer of Udupi Diocese managed the event.
Msgr. Baptist Menezes, Vicar General, Fr Valerian Mendonca, Chancellor, Fr Stany Tauro from Shriva deanery, Fr Anil D’Souza from Kundapur deanery, Fr John Barboza from Karkal deanery and Fr Stany B Lobo from Kallianpur deanery with priests and nuns from different parishes were present.
