Udupi: Three day floodlit sports 2014-15 to begin from Nov 29

Udupi, Nov 23: A three day state- level high school floodlit sports meet 2014-15 will begin at Gandhi maidan Udupi, from November 29 to December 1, 2014.

The event will be organized by Zilla Panchayat Universal education department in collaboration with Government Girls PU College, Udupi.

More than 3,500 participants are expected from 34 institutions for the three day sports meet. Nearly, 35 lacs have been spent to host the event, informed financial committee president, Ramesh Kanchan.

During the three day sports meet, more than 200 physical trainers (PT) will be judges for various sports events.
Kreeda Rath will kick start on November 27 from Venkataramana temple, Udupi to create awareness about sports in public minds.

“As per tradition, every year Mastakabhisheka at Karkala is decided to be celebrated in the district level”, said district-in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake. “The government has approved Rs1,360 lacs of grants for various works in the district. Rs11,68 lacs for developmental works, Rs 1 lac for water management and drainage system, Rs 45 lacs for waste disposal, Rs 30 lacs for street light, Rs 20 lacs for city decoration, Rs 25 lac for development of Jain Basadi, Rs 25 to 75 lacs will be spent on tourism”, he added.
