Kasargod: Two lorries collide, one dies, five injured

Kasargod, Nov 13: In an accident involving two lorries, one person has died and five have been injured.

The accident happened on the highway near Nayammaramule. The lorries involved in the head on collision were, a goods transport lorry plying between Kozhikode and Mangaluru and the Eicher lorry going from Kasargod to Kannur.
Saijo (36) from Kannur Lakkod is the deceased.






P B Madhu (37), Saju Jose (31), Hasim (50) from the Eicher lorry and the driver Koteshwar Rao (40) the cleaner Khadar Mastan (27) from the transport lorry from Andhra Pradesh are the persons injured. They have been admitted to the Kasargod hospital.
The accident took place at 4.30 am today morning. The public upon knowing about the accident phoned the fire brigade and police who came with crane to rescue the passengers from vehicles.

The Eicher has been damaged severely. Saijo the driver of Eicher was trapped in his vehicle. The rescue team of police, fire brigade and public tried their best to rescue Saijo and managed to take him out from the damaged vehicle to take him to the hospital. But by that time he had breathed his last.

The traffic on the highway was affected for hours.
