Moodbidri, Nov 11: Moodbidri police have arrested one person accused in the theft of steel rods and materials from construction sites. The accused is also involved in other thefts.
Harish Kumar (35) from Boliyar Kuppepadav is the person arrested.
The police have seized materials worth Rs.1 lac from the accused.
As per reports, Harish had stolen steel rods worth Rs. 24000 from a construction site in Moodbidri Masthikatte and Rs. 15000 worth steel material from Shetty builders and developers in Nagarakatte during the Deepavali festival.
He had also stolen a hero Maestro bike bearing no. KA 19 EK 225 from a Keshava in Mangalore.
The complainant Sudhir had complained to the police about a theft at a construction site. The culprit was apprehended at Biravu Puchemagaru in Moodbidri while he was on a scooter. The accused tried to run away in vain.
The accused is said to have been involved in many thefts in the past with 4 case registered against him at Kadri police station. Some cases at Mangalore north and Bantwal town police stations have also been registered against him. Harish stayed at Shanthiraja colony at his wife’s place and worked as a centering worker and also a milk vendor.
Moodbidri police sub inspector Ramesh Kumar led the operation.
