Bengaluru, Nov 8: A sessions court here said on Friday November 7 that the period of anticipatory bail granted to Sri Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji, spiritual head of Ramachandrapur Math, relating in a case of sexual atrocity registered against him, stands extended till further orders.
The court heard the case on the expiry of 30-day bail. Saying that the term of bail has been extended till further orders, the court reserved its judgment on the original application to November 17.
In the meanwhile, the court has fixed November 10 for hearing the case of suicide committed by Shyamprasad Shastri. Shastri had ended his life by shooting himself at his home near Puttur. Shyamprasad, who was the brother of Diwakar Shastri, who faces a case of blackmailing the Swamiji, had left behind a suicide note. Some of his relatives had complained that he was receiving threat calls from supporters of Ramachandrapur Math, and that wilting under tremendous mental pressure, he had chosen to take away his own life. There had also been counter claims that he was being pestered to take a stand against the Math, of which he was an avid supporter.
