Mangaluru: Satish Baikampady remanded to police custody in another case

Mangaluru, Nov 7: Satish Baikampady, accused of playing a role in the death of Gangadhar Pangala near Meenakaliyt, Baikampady and projecting it as an accident, was taken into custody by the poilce on Thursday November 6 evening for interrogation in connection with another case. The policemen said further course of action will be decided on the basis of the information they get during this questioning.

In the above incident, a person named Basavaraju (42) from Hosabettu, who was riding a motor bike, had died in a hospital after a vehicle hit him near Koddabbu Daivasthana on May 14, 2013. Gangadhar Hosabettu, who was in the pillion was critically injured, and had recovered after prolonged treatment.

A first information report filed in this connection, was later converted into C report (undetected). Later, police were told by some members of the public that Satish Baikampady, who was accused of killing Gangadhar Pangala in similar fashion, would have been involved with this. During preliminary inquiry, the police prima facie got clues about the involvement of Baikampady in this case, it is said.

On Wednesday, the C report was modified into murder attempt case. After Satish Baikampady was arrested on Wednesday night and produced in court, he was remanded to judicial custody. On Thursday evening, he was handed over to a total of five days police custody, three days in Panambur, and two days in Suratkal.
