Beltangady, Nov 5: Owners of some vehicles that were used for transporting people attending the valedictory function of Karnataka Yatre held on November 2 at Mangalore have complained to Uppinangady police that miscreants had damaged their vehicles by pelting stones at Karaya while returning from the above programme.
It is thought that those who rained stones on these vehicles could be supporters of Samasta Kerala Sunni Students Federation (SKSSF). Both SSF and SKSSF have been involved with misunderstandings and tussle on various issues since sometime, it is said. The differences had been prominent in Karaya. Some vehicles and a bus going to Mangaluru for the function had been stoned. A few more vehicles including pick-up vans, which were bringing the participants of the function back, were hit by stone at Karaya.
SSF Uppinangady unit has condemned the act of throwing stones on vehicles carrying its supporters, and of destroying banners put up by it relating to the above programme at Karaya. It has demanded stern action against the accused, and warned the police of organizing stir in front of the police station in case of their failure to do the needful.
