Wells on target as Huddersfield beat Forest

London, Nov 2 (IANS/CMC): Bermudian striker Nahki Wells netted his ninth goal of the season as Huddersfield beat out-of-form Nottingham Forest 3-0 in a Championship match.

Wells' 20th minute goal was sandwiched between Joel Lynch's headed opener after just 44 seconds and Grant Holt's 54th minute strike against his former club Saturday, reports CMC.

Forest are now without a win in their last eight matches while Huddersfield are up to 14th in the table after going unbeaten in seven.

Huddersfield were 21st in the table with just five points from eight matches when Holt joined Huddersfield on loan from Wigan. They now have 20 points from 15 games.

Stuart Pearce's Forest made a dreadful start at Huddersfield's John Smith's Stadium as ex-Forest centre-half Lynch steered in a header from Jack Robinson's long throw to give the majority of the 15,317 crowd an early tonic.

Wells, 24, who scored a brace to earn a 2-2 draw at Ipswich last weekend after sitting on the bench the previous two matches, linked up with his strike partner Holt to double the lead with his sixth league goal of the season, heading home from close range, before being substituted in the 80th minute.

Wells' other three goals this term came from a League Cup hat-trick.

Huddersfield manager Chris Powell said afterwards: "I thought our attitude and how we took it to Forest was spot on.

"We’ve worked hard at this. To play how we did against a side like Forest shows we are more than worthy of the Championship."

"I'm really pleased with the squad that I have, but I'm pushing them to be even better."

Huddersfield, who are now just six points outside the play-off places, travel to high-flying Derby Tuesday.
