MOHALI, Oct 27: India have sought permission to replace Ajit Agarkar with seamer Shanthakumaran Sreesanth for the rest of their Champions Trophy campaign, an official said on Friday.
Agarkar fractured his left thumb during Thursday's three-wicket loss to the West Indies in Ahmedabad and has been advised rest, Indian cricket board secretary Niranjan Shah said.
"We have approached the International Cricket Council's technical committee to replace Agarkar with Sreesanth," Shah said.
India face world champions Australia in the last league match here on Sunday for a place in the semi-finals from group A. The West Indies have already qualified for the last four from the group.
