Mangalore, Oct 23: The State government is contemplating to provide interest-free loans to those victims who have suffered losses during the recent Mangalore violence, said District-in-Charge Minister B Nagaraj Shetty.
Addressing a press conference recently he said that a number of people have suffered huge losses as miscreants had set ablaze many business and commercial establishments during the violence.
“The initiative is an attempt to help the violence-victims to re-establish their business,” the Minister said and added that the loans may be disbursed through nationalised banks.
Shetty also said that the State government had already disbursed Rs 23 lac as compensation including the hospital bills. “If anybody has not received the compensation, they may contact the deputy commissioner who in turn will verify the pleas,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Minister alleged that there was a Congress conspiracy behind the recent violence. “Many a Congress men in the district have been involved in the violence,” he said and added that he will disclose their names in the future.
Comparing the Congress to ‘fish out of water,’ Mr Shetty said: “If they (Congress) don’t stop such activities, they will destroy themselves.” MLA N Yogish Bhat was present.
