Mangalore, Sep 7: To protest against the atrocities on Dalits countrywide and to urge the state government to re-investigate the Kamabalapalli massacre, Dalit Sangharsha Samithi (DSS) will organize a state level rally in Bangalore by the end of September.
The state chief convenor of DSS Mavalli Shankar informed the media persons about the rally in the press meet held at Hotel Woodlands on Sunday September 7.
He said, “Dalits have been the victims of assaults across the country. Due to the slow pace of the conviction procedure and lack of evidences, the accused get the bail or get the clean chit from the courts. May it be the rape and hanging of the dead bodies of two Dalit girls in UP or the Kambalapalli massacre, the justice has not been served."
“The massacre of Dalits in Kambalapalli, Kolar has caught the attention of the nation but the high court which relieved the accused from all the accusations said that the prosecution has failed to prove the accusations. But now the justice has been not served," he added.
He urged the government to re-investigate the matter and serve justice to the victims and added that a rally would be held in the state capital to pressurize the government.
He also talked about the encroachment of land reserved for Dalits in the district.
“There is the need to have middlemen free system for the government projects to reach the Dalits. The government should immediately establish a single window system and let the projects reach its beneficiaries,” he added.
State committee members Lohitaksha K, Sunder Master, national committe member Sunder Gujjar Bhattu were also present.
