Udupi: Bishop Gerald wraps up pastoral plan training in diocese

Media Release

Udupi, Sep 2: Bishop Gerald Lobo concluded a series of training programs on the pastoral plan of Udupi diocese ‘Pastoral Plan-Mission 2025’, recently.

‘Pastoral Plan-Mission 2025’ is the roadmap for the diocese for the next 10 years.

It was prepared after consultation and a thorough study. In his effort to disseminate the contents of this document to people of every parish in the diocese, bishop personally embarked on a mission to visit to every parish along with a team of speakers.

In a span of two months, he successfully completed meeting the people of all 50 parishes in the three taluks of Udupi district and explained them the contents of the plan.  It included planning and drawing up action plans.

Along with the people of 50 parishes, the members of the parish pastoral councils, parish finance councils and deanery pastoral councils too were instructed.  In a separate session for them, the priests and sisters imparted the contents of ‘Pastoral Plan-Mission 2025’.

This is an ambitious plan which envisages a spiritually, socially, economically strong Udupi diocese by 2025. The bishop was happy to see the overwhelming response of people.

Alphonse D’Costa and Leslie Arouza assisted the bishop in his itinerary.

An abridged version of the pastoral plan in Konkani also was distributed to people for better understanding. Parish pastoral councils are now actively engaged in drawing up of action plan based on ‘Pastoral Plan 2025’.
