Kundapur, Jun 13: “Ashram devotees have buried Swami Vimalananda’s body as per the promise made when he was alive. Respecting the customs is the duty of each human being. I believe that God is omnipresent. Shivaji Suvarna had told the people that the decision to bury the Swami's body had been taken when he was alive and the Ashram will never agree to the proposal to exhume his body,” said Malpe Raghavendra, Nityananda Math, Kollur.
“Vimalananda Swami was the last disciple of Nityananda Swami. The temple administration is trying to twist the people’s view by raising the exhumation issue and pointing out that the Swami is a non—Brahmin,” he added.
“If trustees do so, we will protest. All funeral rites were held according to the customs. If the trustees had such an intention, why did they not prevent during his funeral rites,” queried Raghavendra.
“According to Manjunatha Adiga, there are three bodies buried in the temple,” said Sudhir Kanchan. He said that the trustees were forcefully making them down their shutters to indicate support and to get a positive sign from the public.
