Chamarajanagar, Jun 6 (DHNS): In what appears to be a major trouble in the waiting for yet another cabinet colleague of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, District Lokayukta Special Court has ordered the filing of a first information report (FIR) against Cooperation Minister H S Mahadev Prasad.
Prasad is accused of obtaining a site from Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) after filing a false affidavit.
In his order on Thursday, District Special Lokayukta Court Judge Savadkar instructed the Lokayukta police to file the FIR and submit a report within July 11.
This follows a case filed in the court by Nandish of Hirebegur in Chamarajanagar taluk.
Nandish had accused Prasad, also the incumbent MLA from Gundlupet and Chamarajanagar District in-charge Minster of misusing his office as a legislator and obtaining the site by concealing the facts.
On December 23, 2013, the court had sought a report followed by investigation before February 2014.
In the meantime, Prasad had moved High Court seeking the quashing of the lower court’s order. Though the High Court had admitted the petition, it had not passed any orders on the petition seeking quashing of the order.
On the other hand, Nandish had moved the court again questioning the delay on part of Lokayukta investigators to submit a report.
Following an application in the year 1998, Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) had granted a site in the dimension of 40x60 ft to Prasad in Chamarajanagar.
In his affidavit, Prasad had claimed that he neither owned a site nor a house.
However, according to Nandish, Prasad had kept KHB in the dark about the ancestral house at his native Halahalli in Gundlupet taluk, and also another house in Kuvempunagar, Mysore.
Lokayukta SP of Mysore S M Jagadish Prasad, who holds the additional charge of Chamarajanagar, said he would act only after receiving the order copy.
The order copy is expected to reach his office on Friday.
He said that he would complete the investigation and file the report within the stipulated period.
