New York, May 31 (IANS): Singer Curtis James Jackson III, popularly known as 50 Cent, botched the ceremonial first pitch at a recent New York Mets game, but justified his act by saying that he is not a "professional pitcher".
The 38-year-old appeared on US talk show "Good Morning America", where he explained what went wrong.
He said that the ball "slipped out of his hand" when he threw one of the worst first pitches of all time at the New York Mets game here Tuesday, reports contactmusic.com.
The attempted throw was branded "terrible" and "one of the worst first pitches of all time" by several sports commentators.
"It slipped! It slipped out of my hand. I'm not a professional pitcher, I make music," said the rapper.
Footage of the infamous pitch quickly spread, and even the New York Police Department (NYPD) couldn't resist taking a dig at him.
"I actually got pulled over by New York police and they said, 'You know that pitch was terrible," said 50 Cent.
