The chief guest of the inaugural function was Dr Ashalatha, professor, department of Biochemistry, K S Hegde Medical College. Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director, FMCI presided over the function.
Dr Jayaprakash Alva, dean, Father Muller Medical College, Dr Jayaprakash C S, course coordinator and organizing chairman of the programme, Dini Ross, organizing secretary, FMMC were the dignitaries on the dais.
The programme was inaugurated by the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries.
Dr Ashalatha said, " The clinicians rely on the clinical laboratory test results. It is through the investigation done in the lab that the clinicians receive the confirmation of the diagnosis. In order to support the clinicians by providing accurate and fast results efforts have to be put to improve the performance."
She added, " Technology is advancing. CME of this kind will help us in enriching our knowledge, stimulate to put in more effort and improve our performance."
Fr Patrick Rodrigues in his presidential address said, " The credibility of the Medical Laboratory Technology is paramount. Laboratory test is very crucial, clinicians on decision making depend on lab report without which they cannot make the right decision to cure the disease."
He added, " The two significant key words are quality and competency; there should be quality in what you do and should be competent enough."
He advised the students to understand their role in this scenario and prepare themselves for all the challenges. He told them to learn more and equip themselves which will make them vital persons in the patient care.
The CME is designed as an update on various fields of Clinical Laboratory Medicine. The speakers represent a wide array of experts in their field.
