New Road, Jun 23: Sourav Ganguly just can't do anything without raising hackles, as the former Team India captain in his debut match for Northamptonshire, was warned for running on the pitch while bowling against Worcestershire at New Road.
In his maiden appearance for the county side against Zaheer Khan's Worcestershire, Ganguly came in as the second change bowler.
He started with a wide and was subsequently warned for running on the pitch by umpire Jeremy Lloyds.
The southpaw is here for a six-week stint with Northamptonshire as a stand-in for Aussie batsman Chris Rogers.
Ganguly, with his gentle medium-pace, went wicketless after rolling his arms for nine overs, including three maidens, which cost him 23 runs in the County Championship Division-two match which saw Worcestershire finish the day at a commanding 394 for four.
Ganguly was outshone in his debut match by Phil Jaques (202), who hit his second Championship double-century of the season, before Monty Panesar dismissed him after a 294-ball knock that included 27 boundaries and a six.
Jacques put on 247 with veteran Graeme Hick (93 not out) who is eyeing his 100th ton for his county.
