Mangalore, Jun 17: A seminar on “Exports from coastal Karnataka – Vision 2010”, was held on Friday June 16 evening here.  The seminar was jointly organized by the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO).

Presiding over the seminar, Walter D’Souza, FIEO Committee on Agro Exports and AEZ said that Karnataka is one of the states to announce State Export Promotion Policy. While the Foreign Trade Policy sees to the demand part of exports, there is also a need to check out the supply part of it, he added.

K T Chacko, director general of foreign trade, New Delhi, said that for sustainable export, India should compete with the quality and price. While tackling infrastructure problems, export credit should be competitive. He urged the traders to maintain the quality so that the customers get habituated to it and purchase the products on priority basis.

A Srinivas Rao, president, KCCI, welcomed the gathering. Capt J P Menezes, vice president, introduced the guests. Shekara Pujari, honorary secretary, proposed the vote of thanks.
