Mangalore, Jun 14: Alva’s PU College has won accolades for itself in the recent PU results. Sharing this with the media, chairman Alva’s Education Foundation Dr M Mohan Alva said that out 379 students who passed in the college, 20 have scored more than 90 per cent, 74 have scored distinction and 247 have scored first class.
"Out of the 20 who scored above 90 per cent 17 are the students adopted by the Foundation. All the requirements of these students like food, lodging and fees are met by the Foundation, he added.
Last year 28 students were adopted on the basis of their achievements in sports.
The category has seen 100 per cent results. These students have also excelled in various competitions at the State-level and also won the State-level team championship at PU Athletic Meet," Alva informed.
The further added that the total cost incurred on each adopted student ranges from Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 which is borne by the college. Alva also lauded the efforts of K P Kumar from his college who brought fame by securing a rank in CET and also in COMED-K.
Commenting on the governments attitude towards education, Alva said that the marks of students in II PUC examination should be considered while allotting the seats for professional courses.
