Mangalore, Jun 11: Talent galore but not facilities!

This was the bane of the sportspersons here in Mangalore city. But thanks to the timely appeal by the Dakshina Kannada District Amateur Athletic Association, the Central Sports Authority has earmarked Rs 20 crore for providing a state-of-the art sports training facility and a sports hostel in the city.

The appeal followed the visit of Ganesh, executive director, Sports Authority to the district.

With these funds the work of laying synthetic 400-metre track and upgrading the facilities for volleyball and kabbadi to international standards will be undertaken on priority.
