Kundapur, Jun 5: Police are often in news for wrong reasons.  But this time the women police of the city are hitting headlines for a judicious and priaseworthy effort.  The women police led by sub inspector Revati have succeeded in bringing school drop-outs back to school in the just started academic year.

The women police with the help of community organizations of dalit and Koraga communities stepped into their colony and succeeded in convincing the parents to send their children to the school.  Though it was not easy to convince the parents since the latter at times depend on their children for livelihood, the police did not give up.  Their commitment and determination finally paid dividends with 4 children being admitted to the school.

While Sandeep and Bharath were enrolled in class 1, Sharath and Savitri were admitted to class two.  This has meant that so far 15 students from the Koraga community have been enrolled in the school.

It is indeed an achievement to boast about since the Koraga community has been devoid of education owing to several socio-economic reasons.  If these kind of efforts are undertaken at a larger scale, there is no doubt that a lot more children from this community would get education.
