Mangalore, Jun 5: Central Administrative Reforms Commission chairman M Veerappa Moily has taken up the issue of sea erosion in the coastal belt. The former CM who visited the district on Saturday, Jun 3 said that mere construction of a seawall is not the answer to sea erosion. There is a need to take up construction of five breakwaters along the coastal belt.

Moily who visited the various regions affected by sea-erosion said that the sea has engulfed land upto 400 meters and thus measures to prevent erosion should be undertaken all along the coast- from Kotepur to Someshwar.

He also volunteered to convince the Centre and State to sanction necessary funds to provide a permanent end to the problem.
