Paris, Jun 4: It was a day of mixed fortunes for India at the French Open with Leander Paes entering the second round and Sania Mirza bowing out in the mixed doubles.
Paes and Russian Maria Kirilenko shrugged off a patchy display to beat Americas Mike Bryan and Meghann Shaughnessy 6-3 1-6 6-2.
On the other hand, Sania and Australian Paul Hanley staged a late recovery but it wasn't enought to prevent a 0-6 4-6 defeat to another US combination, legendary Martina Navratilova and Bob Bryan, at the Roland Garros.
