Mumbai, May 22: Yesteryear's Bollywood actress Vidya Sinha who has given hit movies like Rajnigandha and Chhoti Si Baat is making her comeback to acting after a long hiatus, this time on TV with Balaji Production's soap 'Kavyanjali'.
When asked about her long break, Sinha said, ''I did not want my daughter Jhanvi to be brought up by servants and I did not hire any servants. I brought her up singlehandedly as I did not want to miss out on her upbringing.'' ''We then went to Sydney, Australia and I came back some time ago. At the moment, I am only doing 'Kavyanjali' as it takes up all of my time and there is no time for anything else,'' she told UNI.
She spends most of her time with daughter Jhanvi who is studying in Std XI at the Dhirubhai Ambani International school.
She says she took up the role of ''Dida'' in 'Kavyanjali' because she was very happy with an elaborate production house like Balaji. Sinha said she found nudity in some of the Hindi films really shocking. ''In our times we too had romantic scenes but they were dealt with with a lot of sensitivity, but some of today's films are so bold that they can't be seen with our family and kids.'' On the upside she found a lot of technical improvement. ''Our films have also become very tech-savvy,'' she says.
Her favourites, she said, were television serials 'Buniyaad', which she still watches, Balaji soap 'Kasamh Se'. Among films she said she liked to watch Bimal Roy's 'Bandini' starring Nutan, 'Pati Patni aur Woh' and 'Choti Si Baat'. And she said her favourite co-star was the late Sanjiv Kumar with whom she has acted in the most number of films.
