Karkala, Apr 11: A national level volleyball tournament will be held in the city on Tuesday April 18 and Wednesday April 19.

This was announced in a press conference here on Monday April 10 by sports committee secretary Rohit Kumar Kateel.

The tournament has jointly been organized by Sports Promoters and Karnataka State Volleyball Association.

A total of 8 national level teams such as State Police, LIC of India, Indian Overseas Bank, Indian Bank, Kerala Muttu Bank etc will compete in the 2-day-long knock-out tournament.

The tournament will be inaugurated by former international level athlete Ashwini Nachappa on April 18 at Swaraj Maidan here.

Honorary president of the sports committee and MLA Sunil Kumar, president Dr Mohan Alva, joint secretaries Bola Srinivas Kamat, Imtiaz Ahmed, Mumbai based hotelier Mahesh Shetty, treasurers Kishor Kumar Shetty and Nityanand Shetty were present at the press conference.
