Mangalore, Apr 6: The much awaited verdict in the sensational murder of then taluk panchayat president M D Jabbar on May 16, 2003 will be out on Thursday April 6.
Santhosh Shetty, Alwyn Pinto and Karunakar Shetty had shot dead M D Jabbar as per the instructions of Polali Anantu, Sunil Ucchil and Shivanand Mendon when he was coming out of his office on May 16, 2003 afternoon. Prashanth Shetty and Nityanand had helped the accused in the execution of the plan.
It was a personal rivalry between M D Jabbar and Polali Anantu which resulted in the death of the former. Anantu was of the opinion that Jabbar was using his power in fixing him in many cases. Moreover, he was also of the opinion that Jabbar had fixed him in the Mallur Hameed murder case.
But finally when Anantu came to know that Jabbar was trying to fix him in Kaikamba Rafique murder case, he hatched a plan to kill Jabbar. Accordingly Jabbar was killed right in the middle of the city in the broad daylight.
The investigation had been handed over to COD, who after a detailed investigation filed the charge sheet.
But rivalry continued even after Jabbar's death. It took a new turn after Jabbar's right hand Rafique and his henchmen hacked Anantu to death at the Polali Gate on June 7, 2005.
Now all are eagerly waiting for the verdict which is due on Thursday April 6.
