Rs.12 lakh cash van robbery solved, four arrested

New Delhi, Nov 11 (IANS): Four people were arrested for two heists, including a Rs.12 lakh cash collection van robbery, committed within a week here, police said Monday.

Mukesh Kumar, 38, Santosh Kumar, 37, Amit, 23, and Rohit Kumar, 27, were arrested Sunday from west Delhi's Mangolpuri area on a tip-off and the hunt is on to nab their other associates.

In the Nov 1 heist, the accused entered the NDPL office in central Delhi's Desh Bandhu Gupta Road area and robbed Rs.65,000 from the cashier at gun point.

In the second case, six members of the same gang intercepted a cash collection van in Delhi's Prasad Nagar Nov 7 and stole Rs.12 lakh which had been collected from a Delhi Jal Board office and a Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) office.

The accused overtook the cash van with their Honda City car and escaped after the robbery. In a hurry to escape, their car met with an accident on Delhi's Pusa Road, but they managed to decamp.

"In both the incidents, an insider had given he signal to the accused," said a police officer.

"While cashier Amit gave the signal to the accused in the D.B.G. Road heist, an LIC agent Rohit gave information about the cash van in the Prasad Nagar case," said the officer.
