Bhatkal, Apr 3: Fresh incident of violence was reported from the city on Sunday April 2 in which one person was stabbed by two youth at Khaliph Street, Chouthany here.
Jaleel (40) was stabbed by two youth while he was buying fish in the Khalilph Street. He was immediately admitted to a government hospital here before being shifted to a private hospital. He is out of danger, said the hospital sources.
After the situation seemed to be returning to normalcy, Section 144 which was clamped in the city was withdrawn for few hours on Sunday. Taking advantage of this, Jaleel was stabbed. Following the incident, section was once again clamped.
However, no other incidents of violence have been reported since then. Though everything seems to be peace and calm, nobody can deny the fact that the city is a boiling cauldron.
Having taken a stock of things, police security has been beefed up in the city. Additional police forces have been summoned.
A meeting of the both Hindu and Muslim community leaders was organized on Sunday afternoon to arrive at a compromise and normalize the situation. Leaders of both the communities suggested various measures to establish peace and harmony.
The administration said that as per the present state, the Section will continue upto Tuesday April 4 morning. However, latest reports said that the police allowed the shops to be kept open from 9 am to 12 pm on Monday April 3 morning, so that the public may do necessary purchases.
