Mangalore, Apr 1: The "Karnataka State Konkani Language Minority Education Institutes" has organized special programmes in memory of noted Konkani poet, journalist and former president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy B V Baliga on Sunday April 9 at T V Ramana Pai hall here.
B V Baliga, popularly known as "Konkani Kallo B V Ballo" was the founder editor of Konkani monthly "Panchkadayi".
The B V Baliga memorial programmes have been organized by a committee led by Dr U S Mohandas Nayak. Vithobha Bhandarkar of 'Amgele Balaga', Muralidhar Kamat, Yamuna Kamat, A Ramesh Pai, H Raghvendra Rao, Venkatesh Baliga, Rameshkrishna Shet, Kiran Panemangalore are the other members of the committee.
The selected writings of B V Baliga compiled by Sandhya Shevegoor and "B V Baliga - Life and Writings", book written by Nagraj Javali will be released on the occasion.
Many cultural programmes, quiz programmes too have been organized on the occasion, said Dr Mohan Pai, secretary of the Karnataka State Konkani Language Minority Education Institutes.
