Mangalore, Apr 1: Just as any product has value, "Intellectual Property" too has its own inviolable worth in the society.  The 'creator' of intellectual property is respected and looked up with pride by the society. It is the right of the writers, lyricists, playwrights to protect their intellectual property.

But the present scenario particularly in Konkani is that intellectual property has become a public property which could be used, abused, twisted by anyone at any place.

Only a few realize the importance of intellectual property.  The creator or the owner of intellectual property has legal rights and the society at large has an obligation towards him/her.

Keeping this in mind, The Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy which is bubbling with energy these days and has been holding various programmes has organized a meeting "Attov” to deliberate over intellectual property on Sunday April 2 at 10 am at Sandesha.

The topic of the day will be "The Rights of the Owner of Intellectual Property and Duties of the Society."  Noted artiste and renowned compere Leslie Rego and lecturer, critic, and writer-columnist Stephen Quadros Permude will present their views on the occasion.

Khadija Salim, Intellectual Property Rights consultant, High Court, Mumbai will present the legal information on the topic.

"Konkann Kogull" Wilfy Rebimbus will be the special invitee on the occasion and Konkani Academy president Eric Ozario will moderate the session.
