Mangalore, Mar 25: The famed Karavali Group of Colleges will celebrate its decennial celebrations on Sunday March 26 at the college premises near Kottar Chowki here.

This was announced in a press conference here by S Ganesh Rao, founder president of Karavali Group of Colleges and G R Education Trust, on Friday March 24.

The celebrations will be inaugurated by JD (S) state president M P Prakash.  Brahmavar MLA K Jayaprakash Hegde will preside over the function.  MLA and state youth Congress leader Dinesh Gundu Rao too will participate in the celebrations.

The cultural programmes to be held on Sunday evening will be inaugurated by noted journalist Ravi Belagere of "Hai Bengalure" fame.  JD (U) national secretary Shripati Rao will preside over the cultural evening.

Karavali College was the first college in the country when it received affilitation of the University for its Interior Designing Course in 1996.  It was just the beginning.  But today the college has grown into one of the premier educational institutions in the undivided district of Dakshina Kannada.  Today the college boasts of 2 sophisticated campuses at Kottar Chowki and Vamanjoor.

The college is also providing courses in BSc Fashion Designing, Garment Design, Hotel Management, MSW, BCA and BS under the affiliation of Mangalore University.  The college also provides courses in BSc Nursing and Bachelor of Pharmacy under the Rajeev Gandhi Health University, Bangalore.

More than 800 students from all over the world are studying in the college.

College principal Prof Akshay Kumar, BEd department principal Prof Anand and Prof Vishalakshi, principal of the nursing department were also present at the press conference.
