Kolkata, Oct 19 (IANS): Two youth were arrested Saturday for publicly molesting a female doctor in West Bengal's Malda district, police said.

The incident happened in English Bazaar in the district when the victim, a doctor associated with the Malda Medical College and Hospital, was on her way to work.

"I was going to the hospital in my car when two youths stopped their bike in front of my car and passed lewd comments. When I protested, they grabbed my hand and tried to pull me out of the car," said the woman who also alleged police inaction.

Following her screams, locals gathered around and thrashed the youths.

With police not reaching the spot despite several calls by the woman, the locals blocked traffic alleging police inaction.

A large contingent of police personnel later reached the spot and arrested the duo after which the blockade was withdrawn.

"We have arrested the two youth and booked them," a police officer said.
